NEA RA Resolutions 2007

Resolutions Amendments, New Resolutions, and Set-Asides:

Delegates adopted the Report of the 2006-2007 Resolutions Committee as recommended, with the additional changes and actions taken below.

I-10. Human Rights (2) Preliminary Report

Adopted as Amended
Amend by addition on page 76, lines 35-36, “The Association opposes any federal, state, or local law; executive order or presidential signing statement; and/or amendment to the U.S. Constitution that curtails or infringes on basic human rights.”

Amend by addition on page 77, line 23, “The National Education Association supports family planning, including the right to reproductive freedom, with no position on abortion.”

Amend by substitution on page 18, lines 1-3, “[The Association further believes that students who have resided in the United States for at least five years at the time of high school graduation should be granted amnesty by the Immigration and Naturalization Service, granted legal residency status, and allowed to apply for U.S. citizenship,] The Association further believes that students who are settled in the United States at the time of high school graduation should be given the chance to qualify for legal residence status and eventually become United States citizens,”
