Paul Mann Memorial School

April 4, 2008
Morelia, Chiapas, Mexico

Dear P&J family and friends,

Today the newsletter about the Paul Mann Memorial school was broadly distributed via email; if you didn’t get it, please let me know and I’ll resend.

I hope that we can generate more and more interest in this effort as we approach the convention this summer. Perhaps some of the NEA officers and well known union figures would give us a statement we can use (anyone have contacts for this?)

And perhaps some of you - our strongest supporters - can help out by donating what you can today . . . getting a few donations now will give us a head start before the July convention.

The donation web link to purchase a "Paul Mann Memorial School Bond" is:

http://www.schoolsforchiapas.org/english/store/catalog/583.html

This donation link is located in the “STORE” section of the www.schoolsforchiapas.org

I hope that all of you received this document and will using the “Forward” function at the bottom to send it along to your friends, family, and colleagues. If you did not find it in your mail boxes today, please check your “Junk” folder in case it was caught by your spam software. (you have to approve receiving emails from “newsletters@schoolsforchiapas.org” to get our mailings!)

However, we have also posted the document on our web page and you can forward from that location forever. The permanent web link to Paul’s newsletter is:

http://www.schoolsforchiapas.org/english/archive/past-newsletters/588.html

Groundbreaking for the reconstruction will be on May 16 and 17, 2008 using only money raised directly by Paul's family ~ another reason we could use a few more online donations NOW. You can now see a nice section of photos of the current state of Paul’s school under the photo section of our web page in the Schools of Hope section. Those photos are available at:

CLICK HERE TO DONATE--ANY AMOUNT FROM $25.00-$7500.00 is welcome.

As you can see, we’ve been doing lots of work on this…that’s all for now.

I look forward to working together with everyone in the Peace and Justice Caucus over the next few months to make this dream a reality. Hasta pronto ~ por y para los niños y las niñas.

Yours for kids,

Peter Brown

ps. Please let me know if you are available to take one or more four-hour shifts at a table for Paul’s school during the NEA convention or during the pre-convention meetings.
